Originally called Macks Village, Macksville was named after local families, the McKays and the McNallys who, along with the parish priest MacGuiness,sub-divided their land and sold allotments. It was long used a sea port for steamers transporting cedar and dairy produce up and down the coast. Macksville is a fishing and oyster-farming centre 12 kilometers upstream from Nambucca Heads. Visit the Mary Boulton Pioneer Cottage to see how the early settlers lived. No visit is complete without stopping at 'The Pub With No Beer' at Lower Taylors Arm.
