Collaroy Plateau

The outcrop known as Collaroy Plateau stands guard over some of Sydney"s finest northern beaches - Collaroy, Narrabeen and Dee Why.

It also overlooks lakes and lagoons, including the extensive Narrabeen Lakes to the north where sailing, canoeing and fishing are the main pastimes, and the small Dee Why lagoon to the south.

The area also embraces a couple of great golf courses: spectacular Long Reef golf links on the jagged peninsula poking into the sea at the southern end of Collaroy Beach and the Cromer Golf Club, on the shores of the Narrabeen Lakes. The Long Reef course, founded in 1921, is famous as a links championship course, but it's open to players of all levels.

And if you like your golf with a permanent breeze, gully hazards and, above all, a view, you can gaze all the way south to Manly and all the way north to the central coast from Long Reef"s spectacular fairways.

The Collaroy Plateau is handily placed for wining and dining at both ends of the northern peninsula - at Newport, Whale Beach or Palm Beach in the north, for example, down to cosmopolitan Manly at the southern end of the northern beach chain.
